Cheaply made. Coating is peeling into coffee. The mug is cute, but the painting on it looks a bit childish. The real reason for my one star, though, is that there was an acrylic coating on the mug that came off after one use. We hand washed it, didn’t put it in the microwave,* and only used it for hot coffee.
It was fine until about the third wash (handwash only with soft … I ordered this as a gift for my husband. It was fine until about the third wash (handwash only with soft rag) when it started peeling. I think I will just suggest he use it as a pen holder on his desk at work now instead of as a coffee mug. It will be fine for that, but not much else, honestly. Disappointed since other Zak! products have been much better quality.
Not Microwave Safe The description states that this mug is microwave safe. I spent quite a bit of time looking for a themed ceramic mug that is microwave safe, since so many of the heat changing or decorated ones are not lacking that feature defeats the purpose of buying a mug for beverages. I open the box, turn it over, and sure enough NOT MICROWAVE SAFE with a small microwave crossed out with an “X.” If you’re like me, keep looking. At least I can hold pencils with this paperweight…
