a series that’s losing its luster It happens. No matter how good a cozy mystery series is, keeping up the uniqueness and interest as the series continues is challenging. Laura Childs has had great success with her tea shop series. This is the 14th one, and this series has been my favorite of the three she writes. The Charleston, SC setting in the tea shop series is its main strong point, but a series needs more than a picturesque setting in order to flourish. I liked It But Didn’t Love It…Sadly I was so excited for this book to come out! I love Laura Child’s Tea Shop mysteries! This one was good, but a bit of a disappointment. I didn’t feel like the characters were developed well, at all. It seemed like maybe she just needed to get another book out there. I’ve faithfully followed and enjoyed Theodosia’s story from the beginning and had really looked forward to this 14th book of the series, but I must say that it’s rather disappointing. Theodosia has turned into a rude, disrespectful busybody who assumes that Tidwell, the police detective, works for her and must report all his findings to her as if this is HER investigation.
