Great Product If Handled With Care Thanks to all the reviewers who let us know that the chain breaks off easily and that the wire mesh comes apart. Having been forwarned, I examined the tea strainer closely upon receipt. The 2 problems are related. The chain should have been attached in three spots to the stainless steel band around the middle and not crimped onto the wire mesh at the top. The wire mesh is very delicate and will tear when lifting the ball full of wet tea leaves. Knowing this, I slide a chinese bamboo handled…

Not too bad, wish it would last longer I bought this for my boss who owns a local family Chinese restaurant. We use it in a giant teapot on a daily basis. It lasted us for about 8 months before we had to reorder. The chain came off after the first 3 months and then the mesh came apart after 8 months. Wish it had a longer lifespan, but it makes changing tea a lot easier, so we fork up the extra money for it.

If you need it, what else is there Does what it is suppose to do. Water flow through the basket is much better than I would have expected. The only negative is that it is difficult to remove tea leaves that stick through the screen. By the way, I can’t think how a ball of this size and price could be made more sturdy. I use it for brewing a gallon of tea in two steepings of 2 quarts each. The first thing I had to learn is to not use too much tea. A quarter inch across the bottom is more than enough to brew a gallon.
