Traditionally, it’s a small unglazed terracotta cup used for a single serving of freshly brewed chai tea on the streets of India. The inspiration for these hand crafted mugs comes from the Indian Kulhar mug. Traditionally, it’s a small unglazed terracotta cup used for a single serving of freshly brewed chai tea on the streets of India. These cups were typically only used once, then thrown away to be reabsorbed into the soil. Our 12 ounce mugs are made of a red earth clay and are coated with a food safe clear glaze. And unlike the kulhar on which it’s based, our mug will always be there to serve you through your daily ritual.
