Bree Yeager is a free-spirited college student, approaching her mid-twenties who rocks-n-rolls with the punches in 1994. She’s funny, witty, sexy, and whimsical as she explores the waters of the adult world, often taking on unconventional employment opportunities as they come her way. Her best friend talks her into modeling nude for a painting class. Her sister talks her into dancing at an upscale bar. And all the while, Bree switches college majors as often as she switches jobs. When she finds herself in love with her childhood companion, his sudden death leaves her lost in a world of pain. She relies on her family for guidance, but her two older sisters are as different as day and night – further offsetting Bree as she attempts to regain some balance. Although she loses her direction in the interim, she never lets go of her higher purpose as an artist and a lover of life. Bree Yeager searches for meaning and learns that the simplest of answers can often be found in the oddest of places. When she opens her mind and tests the solutions – however absurd – she discovers that anything is possible.

Comfortably Familiar I couldn’t put it down. First, I’m the same age as “Bree” so this book speaks to my generation of freedom, confusion, love, excitement, loss, and finding. I have never read a book in less than 24 hours. Nothing held my interest until now. I could hardly sleep because I kept looking for morning so I could resume reading. Excellent work and very creative. I will read this again and again. Thank you Barbara. Don’t stop writing!

I too read this book in less than 24 hours … I too read this book in less than 24 hours. I could not wait to get to the next chapter. Yakov’s use of references to art, music and, lyrics shows a true knowledge of various subjects. She is an inspiration to other writers and is a rising star. Keep writing and I will keep reading your work! Hair Tea is a winner in my “book.”

I found the book to be a beautiful story of love and loss What an incredible book! I started in the morning and finished after midnight. I truly didn’t want to put Hair Tea down. I foundthe book to be a beautiful story of love and loss, and growth and reflection. Yakov is brilliant as she brings her knowledge of English literature into the here and now. She is also hysterical and pulls the reader in with her warmth and her spirit. A must read!
