perfect I must have read an hour’s worth of reviews for tea kettles before I set my eyes on this one. It had no reviews. I purchased it anyways, because it looked so elegant in a streamlined way, and it had the features I was looking for: a whistle, a larger capacity, an easy-pour handle, and a stainless steel spout cover (the spout cover on my last kettle was plastic that melted and cracked, probably into the water that became tea).

What went wrong with the outside finish? I agree with all the people who talk about the difficulty of picking a tea kettle. One would think it is such a simple matter: not so. After reading ad nauseum through all the helpful positive and helpful critical reviews, I chose Calphalon 2 Qt Stainless Steel w/Whistle. I’ve had it about 3 months, and about 2 months ago, it began to discolor on the outside which continued to worsen: looked like it was turning into a slightly dirty, striped brass pot. I can’t find anything that touches…

a well-designed teakettle This kettle heats water quickly, is completely stable, pours accurately and easily, is well-constructed, and looks nice sitting on the stove. This is the best teakettle I’ve ever used.
