Safety Issues This had the potential to be my favorite tea kettle. It has a beautiful design and is very well made. It is enameled inside and out, so there is no metallic taste in the water that I boil. The little lever that opens the spout works great. But it has some dangerous design flaws….

Wonderful tea kettle I love this tea kettle. It has so heft to it, which is nice. The whistle is loud enough, but not obnoxious. You’ll hear it if you’re in the next room, but not down the hall. The inside is coated, so there is no chance of a rusting issue if you accidentally leave water in it. I will say that the space between the handle and the lid is short, which makes cleaning the inside a bit of pain. Anyone with large hands may not fit them in the kettle to properly clean it. Still red and holding strong Had this for several months now and use it nearly daily on a gas stovetop. No chipping of the enamel or anything like that. So very pleased it’s keeping the look during use. If you let it get really hot, as in its whistling loud for over 30 seconds, yes…the handle can get hot to touch. But, based on my use, i think that is more from the flames of my gas stove coming up around the sides of the pot sometimes and heating the handle.
