It is the same glass used in making beakers, test tubes and other Chemistry equipment. Avoid the aftertaste and flavor you get from plastic and metal kettles. The azzurro comes with an included stainless steel tea infuser to make gourmet loose leaf tea. It can be used on gas, electric, and coil type stovetops. It is lead free glass. The teapot is dishwasher, microwave and freezer safe. Measures 8″ wide with handle and spout x 5.75″ and 4.75″ tall. 700ml/24oz volume.

Sturdy but lid is odd This is the second borosilicate teapot I have purchased through Amazon. The first was a design I liked but what out of stock. I found this to be much thicker glass. My biggest concern as an avid tea drinker is that the lid only fits the top of the teapot when the steeping basket is in place. A lot of teas I brew require short steeping periods. Teaology Azzurro Borosilicate Infusion Teapot I’m delighted with this teapot. The first one arrived well packaged in an appropriate time after ordering it, and sadly, when I inspected it before using it found a tiny crack in the glass at the base of the handle that looked like it was there when originally packaged. Vandue immediately sent me a replacement after I sent an image to them showing the crack. This replacement that I fill with boiling water each morning to make my tea is excellent.
