George Owen says:

My favorite gunpowder tea. Frontier’s organic and fair trade gunpowder is consistently the best of the various brands I have tried. I brew a rounded teaspoon per 12 oz of 170 to 175 fresh water for 5-8 minutes. I find the shorter brewing time recommended on the package does not deliver the depth of flavor that I enjoy. With other brands the flavor seems too flat or too fragrant whereas the Frontier seems to have the perfect balance of grassy, leafy and smokey, and it is robust enough to benefit from longer brewing…

Ike Rye says:

2.5 stars It appears to be a blend of two kinds of leaves (one as dark as fermented tea, second green as raw tea). It has quite a bit of tannin so much so that I prefer to drink second infusion. In addition this tea has a lot of small particles wrapped in leaves that are small enough to pass through my infuser.

V. Wiedemann says:

Inexpensive – drinkable but not delicious This is definitely NOT tender young tea leaves! The tiny pellets open into pieces of what were originally very large tea leaves. The quality is commensurate with the cost. At least it is organic and that is a plus.
