When Pepper Dunn purchases a cat figurine at a yard sale, she has no idea what she’s in store for. First, a crazy woman tells Pepper that owning the item will get her killed, then Pepper discovers the item is haunted by the spirit of a dead cat. As if things couldn’t get worse, when a murder is traced back to the cat figurine, it looks like owning the object may in fact, get Pepper killed. But Pepper is no coward—she won’t back away from a situation simply out of fear. But life becomes more complicated when Pepper’s personal life gets out of whack. Turns out Grandma Betty has a secret admirer and Betty is intent on discovering that person’s identity, even if it means she’s tracking a killer. Then Axel makes a proposal that freaks Pepper out. Will she finally accept the fact that she and Axel are meant for happily ever after? Or will solving a murder not only get in the way of her happiness, but also get her killed? Find out now!
Time for Pepper to grow up. I find it frustrating that Pepper seems afraid of her magical gifts and is afraid to develop them properly. As a result, other disreputable members of the magical community always seem to be trying to usurp them. She takes her relationship with Axel for granted; she is very selfish. I hope the author will show her growing up soon.
Still fun and enjoyable I really enjoy reading this series. I love sweet tea and always want a glass when I’m reading this series. I have yet to try a glass with jelly beansð The characters are fun and quirky. Betty reminds me so much of my own grandmother Betty. I can only imagine the things my Grams would have done if she had had powers. ðThe familiars are back and in this book the new character animal is Peaches, a ghost cat. Attitude and personality that you’d expect from a cat. The only thing…
Same ole childish Pepper While I love this series……Pepper is just as childish as ever. I’d hoped by now she’d be a little less lazy about her power and not so childish in her attitude. Constantly claiming she’s grown and can take care of herself, only to land herself and others in messes She ran into. A lot of times she’s like a petulant toddler in a woman’s body. I truly hope some of this changes in the coming books. It seems Axel is dating a childish girl who doesn’t intend to grow up and act like an…
