Rust on “stainless steel”? This kettle worked just fine for a few weeks. Then it became difficult to pull the lid.Upon inspection, the edge of the lid and the perimeter of the pot where the lid normally resides were spotted with brown lumps. Those lumps look, and act, like rust. “Stainless steel” is not supposed to rust.

Baffling spout cover This is a nice sized, easy to clean kettle. The spout cover that has the whistler is the confusing part. Look at the picture and picture in your minds eye where the steam would go when this thing is full of hot water. Now picture where you need to position your thumb to push the cover up. I mean, its possible to do it without getting a burn, but it’s a lot to ask of my manual dexterity first thing in the morning. And it does flick hot water at you when you do flip it up, just to add a bit more…

Great little teapot Great little teapot. Must be careful when pulling back on spout; it tends to fling hot water droplets onto your fingers. Otherwise, it’s OK.
